You need to fulfil a lot of requirements before the card is issued. One even has to pay a certain amount of fees, in order to get these things done.

In the section below, we have discussed each and every service that is associated with the Aadhaar card and Aadhaar number generation. This will include the fee for aadhaar card apply, the fee for Aadhaar card update, etc.

Fee for Various Aadhaar Card Services

The first and foremost service that any Aadhaar centre provides to its customers is the Generation of Aadhaar card. You could get your Aadhaar card generated on any of your nearest Aadhaar centres. Now, if we talk about the fees that need to be paid in order to generate the Aadhaar number, then it is zero. Yes, you read that right. You do not need to pay even a single penny to generate your Aadhaar card and number.

The NRIs who are currently living in India and have completed 182 days of living in one year, they too do not need to pay any cost for Aadhaar generation. There are no charges for new aadhaar card.

Biometric Update: Service Charge/Fees

Before we go and discuss the fees of this service, we need to understand why a person needs to update his or her biometric. It is a known fact that each and every Indian need to have their copy of the Aadhaar card. Even a child below the age of 5 years needs to have this card. When the child is less than the age of 5, the biometric uploaded in the Aadhaar card is of his or her parents. Once the child crosses the age of 5, it is the responsibility of the parents to update the biometric details of the child. Now, this update is again free of cost and could be done at any Aadhaar card centre. One should keep this thing in mind that the Aadhaar biometric does not just mean the fingerprints. It must include the retina correction too.

Coming to the biometric update, the first update needs to be done at the age of 5. After that, when the child turns 15, the parents should go and get the biometric of the child updated. This is important as our body undergoes a lot of changes as we grow up. We want you to give the reminder that the biometric update is done at this age still will not be free of cost. One has to pay a fee of 25 rupees, in order to update this biometric detail. To know more about the charges for the Aadhaar card update, one should visit the UIDAI website.

Apart from these two important and compulsory biometric update, there are cases, when people have changed their biometric for several reasons. There could be any reason behind it. Now, for such biometric updates, one needs to pay a fee of 25 rupees. According to the UIDAI recommendations, one should keep updating their biometric details every 10 years.

Demographic Update: Service Charge/Fees

Again, before talking about the fees for this particular service, you need to understand what does that mean. So, by the term demographic update, we mean the update of your name, your address, phone number, mail ID, your gender, birthday, etc. Now, one will wonder as to why any of these things would change in any person’s life. There are a lot of circumstances that lead to changes in these things.

This could be understood by simple examples. If you are changing house and are shifting to somewhere else, your address will be changed and this will lead to the change in Aadhaar card. Along with that, if a person wants to change his or her surname after the marriage, this too will lead to a demographic update in the Aadhaar card. So, these could be the factors responsible for these steps. A person should update these details in the Aadhaar card as soon as possible. If you too are one of those people who want to update their demographic details in their Aadhaar, then you will be charged a fee of 25 rupees. This is according to the fees for aadhaar update proposed by UIDAI.

Black & White Aadhaar Printout Fees

As we mentioned earlier also, there could be two types of Aadhaar cards. One is black and white and the other one is coloured. The fee for the coloured one is already mentioned in the earlier point. If you want to have an Aadhaar card that is printed in Black and white, you need to pay 10 rupees for it. There are a lot of people who get their Aadhaar card printed in coloured copy, just because they think that the black and white copy won’t work.

This is a myth. Both the copies will work in the same way. The details printed on the card needs to be correct and won’t face any problem while using the black and white one.

⇒⇒⇒ Remember: Downloading of e-Aadhaar via Online is Completely Free of Cost!

So, this is a detailed and updated fee structure for almost all the Aadhaar services. We all must have undergone these things once. From now onwards, if you go to any Aadhaar centre and the person sitting over there asks for extra money, you would be able to tell him about the right fees. These are very important points and every aadhaar holder should be aware of it.
